Over Easter, I spent a glorious week back on the Eastern seaboard of America. We had great weather, great food and a wonderful time with family and friends.
While I adore London, and the life and home I have built here over the last 8 years, and at this point certainly wouldn’t consider moving back across the pond, I do really love my trips back to Boston. I wanted to share here my five favourite things about these trips, which I’m sure anyone who has moved away from what they originally called home can relate to, whether you have moved 30 miles or 3000 miles.
A Few of My Favourite Things
{all images are my own}
1. Seeing some of my best friends in the whole world. Realising, as we’re turning 30, that we have been friends for almost 20 years.
2. The truly beautiful architecture in New England.
3. The Atlantic Ocean seen from the New England coastline – dark and stormy in winter; pale blue and glistening in the summer.
4. The food. Oh the food. This is a lobster roll – probably pushing two lobsters’ worth of meat, stuffed in a deliciously soft bun with just a hint of mayonnaise.
5. The calm and comfort of being back in the house I grew up in, with my mum’s cooking, the views across the estuary, the smell of fresh laundry.
I miss it already…
Make sure you check back tomorrow as I am posting a beautiful 3-part inspiration board inspired by the soft blue tones of the Atlantic Seaboard. Here is a little sneak!
